NMR | Liquid Nitrogen Generators
Over the past fifty years nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, commonly referred to as NMR, has become the prominent technique for determining the structure of organic compounds. The NMR contains a liquid helium-cooled semi-conducting magnet in order to give high resolution results.
The liquid helium is protected by a jacket of liquid nitrogen which is a less expensive and more readily available liquid gas in order to prevent the liquid helium from boiling-off into the atmosphere. The Liquid Nitrogen inside the NMR requires filling once a week whereas the liquid nitrogen 1-2 times a year.
The Noblegen liquid nitrogen generator has been adapted to fit alongside any NMR machine in order to automatically or manually fill the device which eliminates the awkward and hazardous manual filling. By communicating with the NMR’s liquid level sensor a solenoid valve inside the liquid nitrogen generator can open automatically to top up the NMR with liquid nitrogen, and also has a manual fill button on the touch screen for manual top up. A return line fitted from the NMR nitrogen boil-off port can be used to recycle the nitrogen gas back into liquid.
Advantages:-
- Size a liquid nitrogen generator to supply one or more NMR machines
- Complete generator inside one enclosure, just connect electricity supply
- Auto and manual fill capability – communicates with NMR level sensor
- Recycle vented nitrogen gas back into liquid nitrogen
- Generate LN2 at half the cost of delivered liquid nitrogen
- Fixed installation reduces hazards and increases safety of filling
